VARDAMAN, Miss. —
One child is dead and another in serious condition after being hit by an 18-wheeler Wednesday afternoon, according to Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan.
The two children were struck after exiting the school bus, Pollan said.
James Thomas Murphy, 70, of Vaiden was arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to Pollan.
In a Facebook post, Pollan asked for thoughts and prayers for the children, their families, the Vardaman School District and first responders on the scene of the tragedy.
